Department of Computer Engineering  / College of Engineering at University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on “Patients Monitoring and Data Management System for Hospitals” for the student (Shahad Abdulrahman Khuder), supervised by Dr. Sura Nawfal Abdulrazzaq on Monday, Nov 06, 2023.

According to the ongoing developments in the field of the Internet of Things, in this work, a monitoring system for a smart hospital was designed and implemented, as it includes measuring many vital signs using the Raspberry Pi chip, and all readings are constantly sent to a central unit for data processing and management, and they are also sent to existing monitoring units at entrances to reduce contact between medical staff and patients. This data is then displayed on an interactive graphical interface using the LabVIEW environment. If the vital signs change to an unhealthy state, the design can automatically show the alert on the user interface and send an SMS or email to the relevant doctor. The doctor receives a report on the clinical examination based on the collection of readings and patient data in a database, which can be maintained and accessed as needed. The design was tested on a number of patients in the hospital. According to the test results, a low error rate was obtained compared to the commercial tools used.
