Research Selected Among the Top 10 Most Cited Papers of 2023 for a Faculty Member in Department of Computer Engineering

The research paper titled “An embedded and intelligent anomaly power consumption detection system based on smart metering”, published in the journal IET Wireless Sensor Systems, authored by Professor Dr. Qutaiba Ibrahim Ali (a faculty member in Department of Computer Engineering), has been selected among the top ten most cited papers of 2023, according to Clarivate Analytics data.
This achievement is the result of collaborative research efforts and reflects the quality and standing of the research produced within the department’s PhD program.
The paper addresses the design and implementation of an intelligent embedded system capable of detecting abnormal power consumption in residential and industrial environments, based on smart metering technologies and local data processing.
The research is distinguished by several innovative aspects that contributed to this accomplishment, including: the integration of embedded systems and artificial intelligence, early detection of abnormal consumption, scalability and practical applicability, empirical validation and testing, and its contribution to supporting energy efficiency in line with sustainable development goals.
