Workshop at College of Engineering on Human Rights as a Concept and Its Role Across Generations

Under the patronage of the President of University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of Dean of College of Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon, the Human Rights Unit at College of Engineering, in collaboration with Human Rights Division at university presidency, organized a workshop entitled “Human Rights… The Concept and the Generations” on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of human rights in general, and student rights in particular. It highlighted the unit’s vision to serve as an academic and societal reference in this field, contributing to the creation of a university environment founded on justice, equality, and respect, thereby promoting a culture of human rights within the university and positively impacting society.
The workshop also addressed the unit’s mission to promote human rights culture through education, training, scientific research, partnership building, empowerment, and the reinforcement of principles such as pluralism, tolerance, and justice.
In conclusion, the workshop reviewed the unit’s key objectives, including raising awareness, organizing workshops and seminars, monitoring violations, providing support and consultations, supporting scientific research, and building cooperation with national and international institutions.
The workshop was presented by Asst. Prof. Nesma Ma’an Mohammed, Head of the Human Rights Unit at the college.
