Department of Architecture – College of Engineering, University of Mosul Participates in Arab Architecture Festival HEAR 2025 Supported by Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office

Department of Architecture at College of Engineering, University of Mosul, participated in the Tamayouz Global Award workshop as part of the Arab Architecture Festival (HEAR 2025) held in Baghdad. Assistant Professor Dr. Khawla Fayadh Mahmoud Al-Dawoodi attended the event as the workshop supervisor, with student Rana Sinan representing the department.

The first day of the workshop included a site visit to the proposed project location in the historic center of old Al-Rusafa, between Al-Ahrar and Al-Shuhada bridges. The route featured significant heritage landmarks such as Al-Mustansiriya School, Al-Adiliyah Mosque, the riverfront, Al-Samawal Street, Khan Al-Khudairi, Al-Masaref Street, and Al-Nahr Street. The visit was conducted in the presence of supervising professors from Iraqi universities and international architects.

The workshop was held under the auspices of Iraqi Prime Minister’s Office as part of Arab Architecture Festival HEAR 2025, hosted at Iraqi Engineers Syndicate headquarters, with broad participation from faculty members and students of architecture departments across Iraqi universities, along with distinguished architects from British and Spanish universities.

During the workshop, participants discussed the strengths and weaknesses observed at the site in preparation for the collaborative student design phase, which will continue over the next four days and conclude with the presentation of student projects and the honoring of winners by the international jury.
