Scientific Field Visit for Fifth-Year Architecture Students to Old City of Mosul

Department of Architecture at College of Engineering, University of Mosul, organized a scientific field visit for fifth-year students to the Old City of Mosul on Monday, October 13, 2025, as part of the requirements for the Urban Design course.
The students were accompanied by the faculty members of the Urban Design course: Assistant Professor Mazin Jaber Omar Al-Naama, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Fakhri, Dr. Osama Hammadi Ali, Dr. Khalid Jamaluddin Ismail, Dr. Fares Attallah Matloob Al-Zubaidi, Dr. Rana Mahfouz Hamed, and Assistant Lecturer Alhan Fares Al-Durzi.
The field trip began at 9:30 a.m., as the University of Mosul buses departed for the designated study areas in the Old City. The visit included several historical and heritage sites such as Bab Al-Toob, Bab Laksh, Al-Najafi Street, Al-Sarajkhana Street, Khalid bin Al-Walid Street, and the Mustafa Agha Al-Tutunji Palace.
During the visit, students were introduced to the main historical and architectural landmarks, as well as the urban and design features of the proposed project sites. The aim was to enable them to analyze and develop urban redevelopment proposals for these areas as part of their academic projects.
