Faculty Member from College of Engineering / Department of Architecture Wins First Place in University of Mosul Short Story Competition

Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of University of Mosul, honored Assistant Lecturer Marwa Issam Mohammed, a faculty member in Department of Architecture – College of Engineering, for winning first place in University of Mosul Short Story Competition. Her story, titled “I Will Wait for Zainab’s Sleep,” depicts real-life events and experiences that took place during the period of ISIS occupation of the city.
The award ceremony was held on October 5, 2025 in celebration of Iraq’s National Day, at University Student Center. The winning stories were published in a book entitled “Tales of Nineveh… When Smoke Became a Homeland,” an initiative by Professor Dr. Waheed Al-Ibrahimi, President of University of Mosul, who also presented the nine winners with certificates of appreciation and printed copies of the book.
