A Committee from Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control Visits Laboratories of College of Engineering at University of Mosul in Preparation for Accreditation

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, College of Engineering and Engineering Consulting Bureau at University of Mosul welcomed a committee from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) of Ministry of Planning, to evaluate the college’s laboratories and calibrate laboratory equipment as part of the procedures for obtaining national accreditation for educational laboratories.
The committee was received by Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon, Dean of the College of Engineering, along with the Director of Engineering Consulting Bureau, several heads of departments, and laboratory supervisors. During the visit, the committee reviewed the laboratories’ current conditions, available equipment and instruments, as well as the safety, quality, and operational procedures in place.
Discussions were held on accreditation requirements and national quality standards, with the committee affirming COSQC’s support for Iraqi universities in developing laboratories and meeting accreditation standards that ensure accuracy and performance efficiency.
The committee members praised the college’s commitment to modernizing its laboratories and implementing quality standards. In turn, Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon expressed his appreciation for the committee’s efforts and cooperation, emphasizing the college’s ongoing dedication to its strategic plan for advancing the academic and research environment in line with accreditation and comprehensive quality requirements.
This visit comes within the framework of collaboration between University of Mosul and COSQC, aimed at enhancing the quality of engineering education and ensuring the efficiency and excellence of its academic outcomes.
