Training Course in Department of Civil Engineering on “Engineering Guidance in Developing Methods for Strengthening Structural Members for Engineering Faculty Staff”

As part of the scientific activities of College of Engineering at University of Mosul, and in line with its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goal 4, Quality Education, Department of Civil Engineering held a training course entitled “Engineering Guidance in Developing Methods for Strengthening Structural Members for Engineering Faculty Staff” from November 16 to November 20, 2025.
The course is directed toward the academic staff supervising postgraduate students in College of Engineering.
The course aims to enhance the competence of the engineering faculty in selecting suitable methods for strengthening structural members, as well as to support them in choosing and guiding research directions that meet the needs of engineering projects.
The course is delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jasim Ali Abdullah (lecturer and course supervisor), Asst. Prof. Dr. Hala Jasim Mohammed, Lecturer Ibtisam Hazim Hasan, and Lecturer Rivan Nahidh Wadea.
The program includes an overview of different types of structural members and commonly used strengthening techniques, such as strengthening concrete elements using bitumen and cement jacketing, steel jacketing, and carbon fiber–reinforced polymer (CFRP) wrapping. A final evaluation exam will be conducted for the participants.
