A Volunteer Campaign at College of Engineering titled “A Drop of Knowledge… Saves a Life” as part of the activities marking the International Volunteer Day
Under the patronage of President of University of Mosul, Prof. Waheed Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of Dean of College of Engineering, Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon,
College of Engineering / Department of Environmental Engineering, in cooperation with Presidency of the University / Department of Studies and Planning – Sustainable Development Unit, carried out an environmental volunteer initiative as part of the events marking the International Volunteer Day, titled “A Drop of Knowledge… Saves a Life.”
The campaign comes in support of the Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The campaign was implemented by a group of students from the Environmental Engineering Department, supervised by several faculty members. It aims to contribute to protecting the health of primary school pupils by testing the quality of the water supplied to schools, ensuring it is clean and safe for drinking, through accurate field and laboratory tests.
The campaign also highlights the importance of checking the safety of the water consumed and used by pupils in schools and raising their health and environmental awareness.
