A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Mechanical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled “Heat Transfer Analysis of melting Process over A Horizontal Three Fins Tube With Different Orientations” submitted by (Noor Jamal Yonus), Supervised By Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon and Assist. Prof Mr. Ziyad Mohammed Majeed. On Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023.
In this study, the heat transfer of the melting process for paraffin wax as a phase change material (PCM) was studied experimentally around a copper tube with three longitudinal copper fins attached to it. It was placed inside a rectangular plastic container as a horizontal thermal energy storage unit (LTESU) by hot water flowing inside the tube.
The average amount of heat stored inside paraffin wax was gradually calculated during (100) minutes and the best rate was (502.4) watts at (75) degrees Celsius, the angle of rotation of the fins at (30°) and the amount of water flow at (22.5) liters/min.The discussion committee consisted of “Prof. Omar Mohammed Ali as Chairman, Ass.Prof. Mohammed Salih Mohammed as a member, Ass.Prof. Maan Saadaldeen Mohammed as a member, Ass. Prof Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon as a member and first supervisor and Ass. Prof Ziyad Mohammed Majeed as a member and second supervisor.”
Then the decision of the discussion committee was read and included the acceptance of the thesis with granting the student a master’s degree.
