Master thesis in Department of Electrical Engineering on Improving Spectral Efficiency in Communication Systems by different methods

A Master thesis was discussed in Department of Electrical Engineering / College of Engineering at University of Mosul, specialize in Electrical Engineering, entitled Improving Spectral Efficiency in Communication Systems by different methods, Supervised By Assist. Prof. Dr. Saad Ahmed Ayoob Al_Salami On Thursday, August, 28, 2025.
The thesis presented by, “Zuhoor Maher Ismail Fareeq” aimed To study the impact of carrier aggregation and mmWave technologies on spectral efficiency and signal quality in 5G networks, analyzing the impact of subcarrier spacing, Doppler shift, and other factors, and proposing strategies for selecting optimal carriers to improve network performance.
The thesis discusses Evaluating the spectral performance of 5G networks when using carrier aggregation and mmWave technologies alone and in combination in network operation using three different models, studying the impact of user speed and interference on signal quality. It also highlighted optimal strategies for carrier management and maximizing the use of available spectrum.”

The results showed that the carrier aggregation improves spectral efficiency for various applications, while mmWave increase performance compared to conventional frequency, and the third model highlights the combined improvement when combining the two technologies, taking into account the effect of frequency carrier arrangement.”

The current study is considered a sustainable study to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” and Goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities” by evaluating the spectral performance of 5G networks when using carrier aggregation and millimeter wave technologies alone and when used together in network operation through three different models, while studying the impact of user speed and interference on signal quality.
