On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the Private Law Branch at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a doctoral thesis on reducing the slowness of litigation procedures in civil lawsuits / a comparative study, part of which was attended by Professor Dr. Khalaf Ramadan Muhammad, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and a number of members of the College Council and its lecturers.
The thesis submitted by researcher Thamer Saleh Hamad in the private law branch dealt with reducing procedural slowness, which means taking the necessary legislative and procedural measures to achieve the goal of judicial procedures in record time, as it works to achieve effective justice and prevent delays in procedures. This has a positive impact on enhancing confidence in our judicial system and the speed of providing judicial protection to those who request it within an appropriate time frame or at least within a relatively reasonable period.
The thesis aims to demonstrate that defenses have a preventive role in reducing procedural slowness. The aspects of control are represented in preventing the opponent from adhering to formalities not related to public order in advanced stages of the lawsuit, in addition to reducing the burden on the judiciary in the accumulation of related lawsuits. The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Yasser Basem Dhnoon, and the membership of Professor Dr. Fares Ali Omar, Professor Dr. Nabaa Mohammed Abdul, Assistant Professor Dr. Saja Omar Shaaban, Assistant Professor Dr. Ziad Mohammed Shahada, and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Taima Mahmoud Fawzi.
