A scientific seminar for the Human Rights Law Branch on the role of Islamic banks in promoting human financial rights,,,
Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law, and with the follow-up of Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, Head of the Human Rights Law Branch, and in cooperation with Al-Sanam Islamic Bank, the Human Rights Law Branch held its scientific seminar on Thursday, December 5, 2024, entitled The Role of Islamic Banks in Promoting Human Financial Rights, which began with playing the national anthem of the Republic of Iraq and reciting Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the most honorable martyrs of Iraq and Gaza. Then, a group of our college students handed over the Iraqi flag and the college banner to Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, in addition to a fragrant bouquet of roses on the occasion of his assumption of his duties as President of the University of Mosul. Then, he delivered a speech in which he extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Deanship of the College, appreciating the efforts made in holding this seminar, stressing the importance of combining scientific, administrative and student efforts In order to maintain the prestigious position enjoyed by the University of Mosul, pointing to the effective role of human interaction among the members of our dear university, then Dr. Wissam Nemat Ibrahim Al-Saadi, Dean of our college, delivered his speech in which he welcomed at the beginning the President of the University of Mosul, the members of the University Council, and the honorable attendees of researchers, academics, lecturers, and students, indicating the importance of this symposium and its treatment of a very important topic due to its connection to the financial and economic aspects, directing his appreciation and respect to the management of Al-Sinam Islamic Bank for its cooperation in holding this symposium, as well as appreciating the efforts made by the researchers and the head and members of the preparatory and reception committees. Then the scientific session began, headed by Dr. Muhammad Yunus Yahya and Dr. Rafel Hassan Hamid as rapporteur, which witnessed the presentation of a number of research papers that addressed the effectiveness of carbon bonds in achieving environmental safety through the tools of Islamic banks, with reference to the importance of combining the efforts of all societal, economic, and banking sectors in implementing government plans to preserve the environment from greenhouse gases. And its investment and the possibility of obtaining financial and economic returns, in addition to addressing Islamic banks and their role in supporting the human right to housing, explaining the concept of the right to housing and its humanitarian and economic importance, and governmental treatments to solve the housing problem by providing Islamic banks with loans to the beneficiary without interest. The symposium also discussed the role of Islamic banks in supporting unemployed graduates, considering that unemployment is a global problem in addition to the challenges it represents that require real treatments that Islamic banks may contribute to solving, considering that they are part of the state’s financial system. Among these solutions are establishing financial funds, providing soft loans, and supporting new projects. Islamic banks may also have a role in sustainable development by participating in economic, financial, and commercial activities and events that can contribute to resolving problems with societal dimensions, in addition to their contribution to protecting and enhancing financial rights in light of human rights principles, as the individual seeks to obtain his financial rights in a manner consistent with his beliefs, while stating the importance of including human rights principles in financial transactions to avoid any harm that may arise in the event of adopting otherwise. Then the second scientific session began, headed by the Assistant Professor Dr. Suhaib Khalid Jassim and Assistant Professor Fanar Tariq Yassin as a rapporteur, which witnessed the presentation of a number of research papers that addressed the role of Islamic banks in maximizing public revenues, with a statement of the role of financial markets and the capital cycle using mechanisms for the stability of the financial and banking system, including maintaining a set of ethical values ​​and sharing in profit and loss. The symposium also addressed the legal relationship between the Central Bank and Islamic banks, with a statement of the complementary relationship and the laws and legislations that regulate the relationship between them through oversight and supervision, with reference to the license granted by the Central Bank to enable Islamic banks to practice their work, as well as addressing the duties of the Sharia Board in Islamic banks, with clarification of the mechanism of financial investment in a manner that does not conflict with the provisions of Islamic Sharia. Then, the attendees, including researchers, academics, lecturers, and those interested in legal and financial affairs, and students, asked many questions and inquiries about the papers presented, which were answered in detail. Finally, the recommendations were read and the Deanship of the College distributed certificates of appreciation to the researchers and the heads and members of the preparatory and reception committees in appreciation of their efforts in Holding this workshop, which comes within the series of scientific, research, cultural and student activities of our college during the current academic year 2024-2025.
