Master’s Thesis in the Human Rights Law Department on Human Rights between Constitutional Protection and Maintaining State Security / Iraq as a Model
On Monday, April 28, 2025, the Human Rights Law Department at the College of Law at the University of Mosul discussed a Master’s thesis on Human Rights between Constitutional Protection and Maintaining State Security / Iraq as a Model. Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Ramadan Ali, Dean of the College of Law, and several members of the College Council and faculty members attended the discussion.
The thesis, submitted by Hassan Muhammad Jassim, a student in the Human Rights Law Department, addressed human rights, which represent a fundamental pillar of a democratic system that requires a balance between protecting individual rights and freedoms and ensuring state security. The thesis also addressed the role of the constitution in protecting human rights, focusing on the challenges associated with achieving this balance and outlining the constitutional and legislative frameworks governing the protection of human rights.
The thesis aims to explain the concept of human rights, with reference to the related principles contained in the Iraqi Constitution of 2005, and to address international declarations and covenants related to human rights.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Muhaimid, with the membership of Professor Dr. Sahar Muhammad Najib, Assistant Professor Dr. Luqman Othman Ahmed, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Rafel Hassan Hamid.
