Workshop in the New and Renewable Energies section on chemoffice and ChemDraw applications

Under the patronage of the president of the University of Mosul, prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Brahimi, and under the supervision of the dean of the College of science, prof. Dr. Hiyam Adel Ibrahim al-Taie, and the follow-up of the head of the Department of New and Renewable Energies, assistant prof. Dr. Ahmed Munir Suhail, the Department of New and Renewable Energies at the College of science organized a scientific workshop entitled:
“ChemOffice / ChemDraw: Software and Application” the workshop was held on Monday morning, December 1, 2025 at the Avicenna Hall in the Department.
The workshop was presented by:
- Assistant professor Dr. Lamia Adnan sarsem
- Assistant teacher Omar Younis Ismail
- Assistant teacher Zainab Abdul Aziz Jamil al-esteemed
Workshop details
The workshop reviewed the ChemDraw program and the chemoffice package as one of the most important advanced tools for drawing chemical and biological structures with high accuracy, focusing on multiple features, including:
- Designation according to the IUPAC system
- Prediction of chemical and physical properties
- Using Chem3D to create three-dimensional models and insert them into presentations
- Organize and manage chemical data using Excel and chemfinder
The workshop also included a practical aspect that included:
- Skills of drawing structures and interactions
- Stereochemistry (stereotactic representation)
- Preparation of chemical schemes
- Speed up work using shortcuts and automation
- Employing software in educational and research aspects
Conclusion
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities that the Department of New and Renewable Energies is keen to organize, with the aim of developing the skills of students and researchers in using specialized software and supporting scientific research at the University.
We wish good luck and success to all participants and organizers of this special scientific event.
