The Third Student’s Festival of the College of Archaeology entitled “The Role of Archaeology in Combating Extremism and Terrorism”
Under the slogan of our antiquities and heritage in fighting extremism and terrorism
Under the sponsorship and presence of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, President of the University of Mosul, and with the follow-up of Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archeology
The College of Archeology held its third student festival entitled “The Role of Archaeology in Combating Extremism and Terrorism” on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Grand University Theater at the University of Mosul.
The festival’s agenda included the opening speech by the Dean of the college of Archeology and Chairman of the Festival’s Preparatory Committee, followed by a documentary film that depicted the vandalism and destruction to which our antiquities were exposed at the hands of terrorism and extremism, the role of the security forces in their various formations in maintaining the security situation, and then the role of those working in the field of antiquities and heritage, including specialists and volunteers. And international and local organizations to restore, treat and rehabilitate what was vandalized.
This was followed by a wonderful show presented by the Iraqi Fashion House entitled “Our Past Blooms Our Present,” which tells the stories of Iraq’s civilizations that spanned thousands of years. This was followed by the distribution of honorary shields of appreciation, and then the festival concluded with the opening of an exhibition of activities for teachers and students of the College of Archeology.
