College of Archaeology

The Dean of the College of Archeology, Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, and the Scientific Assistant to the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, attended the graduation ceremonies that took place and the certificates were distributed to a group of our college students and employees from the Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage Inspectorate for their participation in the training course held by the German excavation mission for the University of Heidel Burke in the ancient city of Nineveh, in cooperation with the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage/ Inspectorate of Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage, and the University of Mosul, on Monday, May 13, 2024.
The graduation ceremony was attended tonight by Mr. Rawid Muwafaq, Inspector of Nineveh Antiquities and Heritage, Mr. (Dr. Muhammad Abdel Hussein) from the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, and Mr. (Colonel Muhammad Ahmed Al-Sabaawi), Director of the Antiquities Protection Police Department.
Professor Dr. Stefan Maul praised the competence of the students participating in the training course that he supervised, which extended for four weeks for the period: from April 16 to May 13, 2024, which included topics:
– Grammar of the Akkadian language (Assyrian and Babylonian).
– Study of cuneiform signs.
– History and culture of the ancient Near East.
– Practice cuneiform writing on clay.
Professor Dr. Maul added that this course is equivalent to a semester at his university, Heidel Burke/Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, and it is one of the outcomes of the scientific cooperation agreement between the University of Mosul and Heidel Burke University. He expressed his happiness in completing this course over a period of only four weeks, and he also praised For the perseverance of the students who were at the required level, he congratulated them on this achievement. He expressed his deep thanks to the Presidency of the University of Mosul and the Deanship of the College of Archaeology for the scientific cooperation agreement concluded between the two universities.
