Dean of the College of Archaeology Participates in the Baghdad Arab Tourism Capital Conference

Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archaeology (Chair of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Archaeology in Iraq), participated in the celebration organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the direction of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, to mark the selection of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025. The celebration was held in cooperation with the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance in the Prime Minister’s Office.
In a speech delivered by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaili, he stated that the Ministry of Higher Education is committed to and keen to support institutional partnerships that make Baghdad an academic, cultural, and tourist destination.
He added that Iraqi academic and cultural institutions are continuing to support and consolidate development plans with a horizon extending to 2030, achieving a conscious response to their objectives, and building on them towards global partnerships. The event also included speeches by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and the Director General of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi. It also featured panel discussions, presentations, and activities that reflected the context of the Iraqi state’s strategic vision for cultural and knowledge tourism, in which the roles of the university, cultural institutions, and the tourism sector are integrated.
