Higher Diploma Thesis in Peacebuilding Studies at the College of Arts on: The Protection of Cultural Diversity and its Role in Promoting Peaceful Coexistence

The College of Arts at the University of Mosul discussed the higher diploma thesis in peacebuilding studies. On (Protecting Cultural Diversity and its Role in Promoting Peaceful Coexistence – a case study in Al-Hamdaniya district) on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.
Part of it was attended by a number of college teachers and postgraduate students. The study, submitted by Guevara Zea Yukhana, at the Department of Sociology dealt with the concept of cultural diversity, which refers to the existence of human groups that have cultural backgrounds with different manifestations, such as nationalism, religion, sect, and language, united by a common land.
The study aimed to clarify and highlight the importance of protecting this cultural diversity, as emphasized by international conventions and national constitutions. The study concluded that protecting this diversity will be reflected positively in promoting and creating a state of harmony, understanding and communication among culturally diverse societies, which ultimately leads to consolidating the foundations on which peace building is based.
