The University of Mosul, represented by the College of Basic Education, discussed a master’s thesis entitled Al-Tuhfah Al-Radiyyah ‘ala Muqaddimat Al-Ajurrumiyyah by Abu Al-Fath Muhammad ibn Abdul Qadir Al-Khatib (d. 1315 AH), from the beginning of the book to the end of the chapter on verbs: a study and critical edition, on Sunday, 26/4/2026, in the Umm Al-Rabiain Hall at the college. The session was attended in part by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Ruwaa Tariq Hameed, along with a number of faculty members from the department.

The thesis, submitted by the student Saleh Faisal Mahmoud Mohammed Al-Sabawi from the Department of Arabic Language, aimed to produce a precise scholarly edition of the manuscript Al-Tuhfah Al-Radiyyah ‘ala Muqaddimat Al-Ajurrumiyyah, accompanied by a linguistic and grammatical study, an explanation of the author’s methodology in commentary and analysis, and an examination of its scholarly value in serving Arabic grammatical studies.

The study addressed several topics, including the author and his historical period, a descriptive study of the manuscript and the adopted copies, the methodology and principles of the critical edition, followed by an analytical study of the edited text, highlighting the grammatical issues discussed by the commentator in the second section, especially the chapters on inflection, governing elements, and the divisions of speech.

The study reached a number of conclusions, most notably that the book is considered one of the important commentaries on Al-Ajurrumiyyah, distinguished by its clarity of expression, good organization, and reliance on solid grammatical foundations, in addition to its attention to presenting grammatical differences and weighing between them, making it a valuable scholarly contribution in the field of editing grammatical heritage texts.
