Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education Explores Adaptive Leadership of Heads of Physical Education and Sports Science Departments and Its Role in Administrative Development

 

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled “Adaptive Leadership of Heads of Physical Education and Sports Science Departments and Its Role in Administrative Development from the Perspective of Their Faculty Members” on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in the Umm Al-Rabieen Hall at the College.

The thesis, presented by Rahma Talal Younis, aimed to evaluate the level of adaptive leadership demonstrated by the heads of Physical Education and Sports Science departments and branches in Nineveh Governorate and to examine its role in achieving administrative development from the perspective of faculty members. To achieve this objective, the researcher developed a scale to measure adaptive leadership and adapted an administrative development scale, which were then administered to a sample of 215 faculty members.

The study reached the following conclusions:

  1. Two scientifically validated instruments were developed: one to measure adaptive leadership and the other to assess administrative development. Both reached their final forms and were deemed suitable for application in the academic environment of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.
  2. The Physical Education and Sports Science departments and branches in Nineveh Governorate demonstrated a high level of administrative development from the perspective of their faculty members.
  3. Adaptive leadership, across its various dimensions, was found to play a positive and significant role in achieving administrative development.

The examination committee was chaired by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Raad Ibrahim and included Assist. Prof. Dr. Yasser Bazil Mohammed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hassan Khudhur Mohammed, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Khalid Ahmed, who also served as the thesis supervisor.
