A PhD dissertation entitled “The Effect of a Training Program Based on Experiential Learning on the Teaching Practices of Primary School Teachers and the Development of Their Citizenship Culture.”

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a PhD dissertation entitled “The Effect of a Training Program Based on Experiential Learning on the Teaching Practices of Primary School Teachers and the Development of Their Citizenship Culture.” The discussion was held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Umm Al-Rabi‘ain Hall at the College.
The study, submitted by the doctoral candidate Ban Anwar Abdul Qadir Al-Khayro, focused on developing a training program based on experiential learning and training primary school teachers according to its procedures, as well as measuring its effect on their teaching practices and the development of their citizenship culture by comparing the performance of the research sample before and after the program.
The dissertation reached several findings, most notably the presence of a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the participating trainees in the pre- and post-tests of teaching practices and citizenship culture, in favor of the post-tests. This indicates the effectiveness of the experiential-learning-based training program in motivating trainee teachers to improve their teaching practices and behaviors that reflect a culture of citizenship.
The findings also emphasized the importance of employing experiential learning in the educational process, both in teacher preparation and in providing teachers with professional development and training programs. The study recommended benefiting from the program in teachers’ classroom practices and organizing training programs for teachers on mechanisms for applying experiential learning in the educational process.
