Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education on “The Effect of Resistance Training Using Elastic Bands on Selected Physical Variables and Body Composition Components among Female Futsal Players”

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled “The Effect of Resistance Training Using Elastic Bands on Selected Physical Variables and Body Composition Components among Female Futsal Players.” The discussion was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Al-Hadbaa Hall at the College of Basic Education.

The thesis, submitted by Noor Sameer Taha Ahmed from the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, aimed to develop a training program and design exercises using elastic bands for female futsal players. It also sought to examine the effect of elastic-band resistance training on selected physical variables and body composition components among female futsal players.

Furthermore, the study aimed to investigate the effect of the regular training program on these variables and components, and to identify differences between the experimental and control groups in their post-test measurements of selected physical variables and body composition components.

The study reached several findings, most notably that the experimental groups that performed elastic-band exercises outperformed the control group, which followed the coach’s regular training program, in the physical variables, with the exception of transitional speed.

The coach’s training program implemented with the control group did not result in improvements in any of the body composition components. In contrast, the experimental groups that performed elastic-band resistance exercises outperformed the control group in all body composition components.

The discussion committee consisted of:

  • Prof. Dr. Othman Adnan Abdul Samad – Chair
  • Assistant Prof. Dr. Hussein Ahmed Hamza – Member
  • Assistant Prof. Dr. Omar Alaa Al-Din Ahmed – Member
