A Master’s Thesis Defense at the College of Basic Education on: ‘The Journey in the Novel Hannibal the Canaanite by Sobhi Fahmawi'”

Master’s Thesis Discussed at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul
The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul, discussed a Master’s thesis entitled: “The Journey in the Novel ‘Hannibal the Canaanite’ by Sobhi Fahmawi”, presented by the student Waleed Khalid Rifaie Abed, on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Uum Al-Rabieen Hall in the college.
The thesis examined the theme of the journey in the novel Hannibal the Canaanite in terms of spatial dimensions, including the geography of the journey, the binaries of land and sea, and familiar versus hostile spaces. It also explored the impact of the journey on psychological and personal transformations, focusing on the journey of the problematic hero, the conflict between the self and the other, and the quest for identity, in addition to analyzing other structural elements of the journey such as time, perspective, and description.
