The College of Basic Education discussed a master’s thesis on (Semantic Development in Al-Muhakkam and Al-Muhit Al-A’zam by Ibn Sidah (d. 458 AH) from the sixth part to the end of the book, a study and dictionary) on Monday, September 8, 2025, in the Umm Al-Rabi’in Hall in the college
. The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus Saleh Al-Juraisi, and a number of the department’s lecturers attended part of it.
The thesis, presented by the student (Hamed Abdullah Issa) from the Department of Arabic Language/Language, aimed to monitor the phenomenon of semantic development in the book Al-Muhakkam and Al-Muhit Al-A’zam. The study addressed several axes, including: (Dictionary of Transition of Meaning, Dictionary of Specialization of Meaning, and Dictionary of Generalizations of Meaning)
. The study reached several results, including: The environment surrounding a person has a great impact on the change and development of the semantics of the words of the language he speaks over the ages.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Zahraa Saad Al-Din Sheet, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Walaa Hashim Ahmed, Assistant Professor Dr. Murad Abdul Hassan, and Professor Dr. Amer Baher Asmir as a member and supervisor
