Master’s thesis in the College of Basic Education/Department of Arabic Language entitled (The Possible Sentence in Al-Durr Al-Masun by Al-Sameen Al-Halabi)

The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on (The Possible Sentence in Al-Durr Al-Masun by Al-Sameen Al-Halabi) on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Al-Hadbaa Hall at the college.
The study, presented by the student (Rania Mishaal Hamid Hamdoun), Department of Arabic Language, specialization (Language), aimed to demonstrate the grammatical aspects that sentences have in their Quranic context, through the book Al-Durr Al-Masun by Al-Sameen Al-Halabi.
The study included an introduction, a preface, two chapters, and a conclusion that includes the most prominent results, in addition to a list of sources and references. The preface dealt with the definition of the sentence and its relationship to the phenomenon of possibility, and the concept of each in language and terminology, while clarifying the types of sentences that have no syntactic position and those that do, and providing an overview of Al-Sameen Al-Halabi and his book Al-Durr Al-Masun. The first chapter dealt with the relationship between sentences with and without a syntactic position, and included six topics, with an analysis of applied models for these aspects. The second chapter was devoted to studying sentences with a position, and was divided into two topics: the first topic: contrasting sentences, and the second topic: overlapping sentences. The research concluded with a conclusion that includes the most prominent results reached, followed by a list of sources and references.
The study reached several results, including: (Al-Samīn was not decisive in preferring between the syntactic aspects, as he sometimes prefers a particular aspect, and sometimes leaves the door open, and presents the aspects without preference).
The discussion committee was chaired by: Professor Dr. (Saad Muhammad Ahmad), and the membership of each of Professor Dr. (Rafi’ Ibrahim Muhammad), Assistant Professor Dr. (Salam Abdul Jassim), and Assistant Professor Dr. (Jassim Taha Ahmad) as a member and supervisor.
