The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul (Continuing Education Unit), in collaboration with the Department of Arabic Language, organised a specialised seminar titled:
”Modern Linguistics and Its Manifestations in Our Linguistic Heritage”
The event was held on Monday, February 23, 2026, and featured presentations by a panel of distinguished scholars:

Seminar Objectives and Key Highlights
The seminar aimed to bridge the gap between classical Arabic scholarship and contemporary linguistic theories. Key areas of focus included:
Theoretical Intersection: Identifying the foundational principles of modern linguistics—such as Structuralism, Pragmatics, and Transformational Grammar—within the historical texts of ancient Arab grammarians and rhetoricians.
Re-evaluating Heritage: Demonstrating the profound richness of Arabic linguistic heritage and its striking alignment with the findings of modern linguistic science.
Analytical Sophistication: Proving that classical Arabic thought possessed advanced analytical tools that mirror the methodologies promoted by today’s leading linguistic schools.
