A PhD dissertation at the College of Basic Education on: “Contributions of Andalusian Scholars to Public Life During the 7th–8th Hijri Centuries (13th–14th Centuries CE) in Al-Safadi’s Book Al-Wafi bi al-Wafayat (d. 764 AH / 1362 CE)”

The College of Basic Education discussed a PhD dissertation entitled:
“Contributions of Andalusian Scholars to Public Life During the 7th–8th Hijri Centuries (13th–14th Centuries CE) in Al-Safadi’s Book Al-Wafi bi al-Wafayat (d. 764 AH / 1362 CE),”
on Thursday, May 21, 2026, in the “Umm Al-Rabeeain” Hall at the college.
The dissertation, submitted by the student Elias Mohammed Ibrahim Al-Ali from the Department of History, aimed to:
- Highlight the biography of Al-Safadi and his book Al-Wafi bi al-Wafayat.
- Explain Al-Safadi’s sources in presenting narrations related to Andalusian scholars.
- Document the biographies of Andalusian scholars during the 7th and 8th Hijri centuries (13th and 14th centuries CE).
- Clarify their contributions in various scholarly fields throughout the Islamic world.
- Shed light on the works and writings of Andalusian scholars, identifying what has survived and what has been lost.
- Highlight their political, administrative, and social contributions.
- Explain the status of Andalusian scholars in the societies in which they lived.
- Contribute to filling the research gap in Islamic history studies concerning the biographies of Andalusian scholars and their contributions to public life in Al-Andalus and other Islamic regions where they settled or visited.
