The PhD dissertation of the lecturer at our college, Ahmed سعد الله Ahmed Saleh from the Department of General Sciences / Chemistry Branch, was discussed at the College of Science. The dissertation was entitled:

“Preparation and Characterization of New Nanoparticles and Their Application as Photocatalysts,”

on Monday, May 11, 2026.

In his study, the researcher succeeded in preparing advanced hybrid nanocomposites characterized by their ability to function as photocatalysts under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Fahd Waheed.

These materials demonstrated exceptional efficiency in removing toxic pollutants from water. One of the prepared compounds, (CoNiFe₂O₄@g-C₃N₄-K), achieved a 96.5% removal rate of methylene blue dye within only one hour.

The research outcomes were not limited to water treatment, but also extended to combating climate change. The new materials proved highly capable of absorbing carbon dioxide (CO₂) from the atmosphere, achieving an efficiency of 95.78% under visible light.

The discussion committee consisted of:

  • Professor Dr. Imad Taha Bakr — Chairperson
  • Professor Dr. Iyad Saadi Hameed — Member
  • Professor Dr. Ammar Ahmed Hamdoon — Member
  • Professor Dr. Ragheed Yousif Nazzal — Member
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Aammairi Mohammed — Member
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Fahd Hameed — Member and Supervisor
