Master’s Thesis at the College of Basic Education on “A Qualitative Discourse Analysis of English Petitions”

 

A Master’s thesis in English Language entitled “A Qualitative Discourse Analysis of English Petitions” was defended at the College of Basic Education, University of Mosul, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in the Umm Al-Rabiain Hall at the College of Basic Education.

The study, submitted by the student Wasan Falah Hassan, aimed to investigate the qualitative discourse analysis of English petitions as an approach that focuses on understanding the meanings, ideas, and attitudes conveyed in petitions, as well as how language is used to express demands, construct arguments, and persuade. The study also examined several elements, including word choice, request and persuasion strategies, pronouns, and discourse strategies, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the messages conveyed through petitions.
