The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a Master’s thesis in Islamic History titled “The Khalji Sultanate in India (689–720 AH / 1290–1320 CE): A Political and Cultural Study” on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Umm Al-Rabi’ain Hall in the college.
The study, presented by the student Zuhair Mahmoud Hammo, addressed the Khalji Sultanate in India—a crucial era in the history of the Indian subcontinent due to the significant political, military, cultural, and intellectual transformations it witnessed under Khalji rule. The political landscape of the Khalji Sultanate remained turbulent until the accession of Sultan Alauddin Khalji, who successfully confronted major challenges—most notably the Mongol threat—while also playing a key cultural and developmental role.
