Discussion of a master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Computer Science
Entitled (Designing an adaptable and scalable topology for the Iraqi power grid)
(Design an Adaptive and Scalable Topologies for the Iraqi Power Grid Network)
Discussed at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on 20-9-2022, a master’s thesis (designing an adaptable and scalable topology for the Iraqi power grid)
For the student: Rasha Jamal Hussein Al-Jarrah and under the supervision of: Prof. Manar Younes Ahmed KashmoulaThe thesis submitted by the student dealt with modeling the Iraqi national electrical network for the purpose of visualizing and understanding the network in depth. As well as focusing on the challenges and problems faced by the Iraqi energy network, such as breakdowns and damages to power generation, production and transmission plants, in addition to the power transmission lines that connect the stations. Therefore, there was a need to propose scenarios for the development of the Iraq network to advance it at the level of production and distribution to meet the needs of consumers. These scenarios reflect the most prominent problems that the Iraq network faces or may face on a periodic or annual basis or during emergency circumstances that occur suddenly. The study touched on the use of a modern method for modeling the energy network, which is currently adopted by most international countries, which is modeling by using the concept of complex networks based on graph theory. Our work provides a professional visualization of the Iraq network that has been modeled based on the demographic distribution and the coordinates of the power stations. The study aims at the possibility of adopting this proposed network by officials and engineers specialized in this field and helping them to visualize the performance of the current Iraqi electric power network from a different and modern statistical perspective.
