Follow-up on the establishment of departments
In a step that embodies the Iraqi government’s interest in keeping pace with rapid technological developments, a delegation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research visited the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Tuesday, 6-11-2024. The visit came as part of the mission of the committee concerned with following up on the establishment of new departments specialized in the fields of cybersecurity, networks, and artificial intelligence, in response to the growing needs of the Iraqi and global labor market in these vital fields.
The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah, Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, who welcomed the delegation and praised the importance of this visit to support the college’s efforts in developing academic programs and meeting the requirements of the labor market. She stressed, “The establishment of the departments of cybersecurity, networks, and artificial intelligence comes within the university’s efforts to keep pace with rapid technological progress and provide students with the necessary skills to face future challenges in the fields of information technology and its security.”
The delegation conducted a field tour of the newly established departments, reviewed the laboratory equipment and available facilities, and expressed their satisfaction with the level of equipment and workflow, in addition to evaluating the qualified teaching staff. The delegation also stressed the importance of these departments in preparing national cadres capable of facing digital security challenges and technological and technical development.
