PhD thesis ( Design an IoT Lightweight Devices Authentication Model)  by Samira Abbas Fadel Al-Nuaimi under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sami Nouri.

The student’s thesis dealt with the design of a lightweight authentication model for the Internet of Things (LAM-IoT) using IOTA Tangle technology.

The thesis dealt with the use of multiple techniques: IOTA Tangle, Decentralized Identity (DID), Stronghold Vault, and Ed25519 algorithm.

The design of the proposed framework went through three main stages. The first phase involved choosing the most suitable technology by comparing the most popular technologies which include IOTA Tangle and Blockchain. In the second phase, a new lightweight authentication scheme was proposed for smartphones through a mobile app running on a smartphone that needs authentication using the IoT system. In the final stage, a lightweight authentication model for the Internet of Things (LAM-IoT) was proposed using IOTA Tangle and identity, which is a decentralized authentication technology. Using a decentralized identifier (DID) that acts as a unique identity associated with IOTA helps IoT devices fully own and manage their identifiers without relying on any centralized authority

The thesis aims to design and develop a lightweight authentication model for the Internet of Things using IOTA Tangle and DID technology. This technology provides a highly secure, scalable, and lightweight authentication facility for the IoT environment.  .
