Defense of a higher diploma thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Computer Science entitled ) Navigation description application for Mosul University

On Monday 10-3-2025, the higher diploma thesis tagged  was discussed in the discussion hall of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Monday 10-3-2025 for the student Yasser Mahmoud Amin Taha and under the supervision of Dr. Rayan Yousef Yaqoub Al-Khayyat.

The thesis addressed the development of a navigation application to guide users that works on the Android platform using location technologies (GPS), which leads to facilitating navigation on campus by providing interactive maps and guided routes to reach the required destinations accurately.
The study dealt with the use of the method of collecting and analyzing spatial data using positioning systems and documenting them within a database. The app is also developed using software tools such as Android Studio, Google Maps API, and the Java programming language. In the end, unit, integration and acceptance tests were conducted on the application, and the results showed the system’s response accurately and effectively in providing services.

The study aims to integrate spatial and metadata to provide detailed information about buildings and facilities, which contributes to improving the user experience and reducing wasted time. The app features an interactive and intuitive interface, with additional features such as searching for locations, viewing location details, and providing custom paths for users. The app has achieved a satisfaction rate among users, with evaluation surveys showing that more than 95% of users expressed satisfaction with the use of the app and its responsiveness.
