Discussion of a master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics / Department of Computer titled: “Software Defects Prediction Based on Deep Learning Techniques”. Continuing with the movement of scientific research, and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Doha Bashir Abdullah, the respected thesis was discussed in the discussion hall of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Monday, January 9, 2025. The master’s thesis of the student “Ikhlas Tariq Hassan Abd” was supervised by  Dr. Shaimaa Mustafa Muhyiddin. The thesis addressed the topic of predicting software defects using deep learning techniques based on real data, where four models: GRU, DNN, MLP, and CNN were used to test their performance in predicting software defects.

The study addressed the main problem, which is the emergence of defects in software that affect the reliability of the system, especially when they are discovered in the later stages of software development, leading to system failure. The aim of the study is to build deep learning models capable of detecting defects in the early stages of software development, which enhances software quality and reduces time and monetary costs.
