” Solving The Redundancy-Reliability Allocation Problem (RRAP) using Artificial Intelligence“
Master’s thesis by Mafaz Emad Abid Salih
Supervised by Prof. Dr. Najla Akram Younis
The main objective of this thesis
A methodological framework was developed for formulating the Reliability–Redundancy Allocation Problem (RRAP) on nine models of Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD) with the aim of maximizing system reliability under cost, weight, and size constraints. Thirteen swarm-intelligent algorithms were applied, and two proposed hybrid algorithms (CSO-WOA) and (FPA-ABC) were designed and introduced to enhance efficiency, accelerate convergence, and raise robustness, where the two hybrid algorithms were applied to different standard benchmark functions, with the results documented by a rigorous statistical verification methodology that relies on significance tests appropriate for rank data (such as the Friedman test) and the LSD test to prove the significance of the differences between algorithms. The results indicated a clear superiority of the two proposed algorithms and of the obtained outcomes, which led to maximizing the global reliability values for seven out of nine RBD problems.
