Discussion of a Master’s Thesis at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Computer Science titled: “Disinformation Detection in Social Networks” Continuing the scientific research movement and with the follow-up and attendance of the esteemed Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Basheer Abdullah, a master’s thesis was discussed in the discussion hall of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Sunday, 26/10/2025. The thesis belongs to the student “Safaa Mohammed Ali Sheet” and was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Basim Mohammed Mahmoud. The thesis addressed the field of detecting disinformation in social networks due to the increasing volume of unwanted and misleading content in large quantities caused by the development of generative artificial intelligence technologies, especially the X platform, along with the rise of fake accounts and automated chatbots. The study proposes a new method for a system suggested to detect disinformation by analyzing content and classifying texts to enable users, social media platform administrations, and institutions to make decisions regarding diagnosing misleading content and removing fake pages.

The main objective of the study is to produce clean knowledge to maintain community awareness, protect minds, and achieve knowledge and information sustainability through the development of a proposed main system consisting of 7 proposed hybrid systems (3 main systems and 4 sub-systems) integrated into a single system with a hybrid model trained on the dataset on Platform X to obtain the misinformation rate of content published in tweets and identify fake accounts.
