The College of Computer Science and Mathematics Organizes an Awareness Workshop Entitled “Green Gold vs. Black Gold: Agriculture for the Future and Sustainable Investment”
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah, the Department of Mathematics at the College, in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Unit in the Department of Studies and Planning at the University Presidency, held an awareness workshop entitled:
“Green Gold vs. Black Gold: Agriculture for the Future and Sustainable Investment”
This workshop took place on Monday, November 17, 2025.
The workshop was held within the framework of supporting several Sustainable Development Goals, including: Zero Hunger, Clean Energy, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Life on Land.
The workshop addressed a comparison between crude oil, as a non-renewable resource with significant fluctuations in revenues, and olive cultivation, which is considered a sustainable investment that provides job opportunities, protects the environment, and enhances food security for future generations.
The workshop emphasized that the shift towards a green economy is a strategic choice for a more sustainable future, and that sustainable agriculture is a crucial pillar for reducing dependence on oil and supporting economic and environmental development.
