The Mathematics Department launches the “Be a Professor” competition for second-year students.

Under the patronage and guidance of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz, and the supervision of the Head of the Mathematics Department, Professor Dr. Abdul Ghafour Jassim Salem, the Mathematics Department launched the preliminary rounds of the “Best Presentation” competition for second-year students, under the slogan “Be a Professor.”
The competition took place on Wednesday and Thursday, December 3-4, 2025, where students presented scientific lectures on curriculum topics in an academic style to their peers. The aim was to assess their presentation skills and ability to convey the scientific material effectively. A judging panel, comprised of the course instructor and the department head, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Amer Fawzi, evaluated the presentations, with student participation in the evaluation process.
This initiative aims to develop students’ personalities, boost their self-confidence, refine their academic presentation and public speaking skills, and prepare a generation qualified for future leadership and teaching. It also aims to enhance academic understanding by simplifying and communicating scientific material to others.
