A master’s thesis was discussed at the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Thursday, 9-30-2021, entitled “Design a Medical Image Retrieval System” by student Rana Muayyad Hassan and under the supervision of the teacher, Dr. Elaf Osama Abdel-Majid.
The thesis dealt with the design of a system for retrieval of medical radiology images for lung diseases (Covid 19, lung cancer, pneumonia)
The study dealt with the use of the deep learning method by applying three algorithms: First, a convolutional neural network from scratch to extract and classify features using six convolutional layers and two complete communication layers, with an accuracy of (95.17%). Secondly, the method of transformed learning techniques (Resnet_50), which has an accuracy of (94.81%). Third, by training feature patterns (inception V3) and classification by (Support Vector Machine (SVM) the accuracy reached (84.4%)The study aims to apply and employ the proposed method in the development of computer vision systems to assist physicians in diagnosing lung diseases by designing an image retrieval system.
