Discussion of a master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics

Discussion of a master’s thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics – Department of Statistics and Informaticsentitled:Bayesian estimation of the reliability function ofthe Burr-XII distribution with applicationIn continuation of the scientific research movement and with the follow-up and presence of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and MathematicsProf. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah The esteemedIt was discussed in the discussion room at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Tuesday 25/10/2022Master’s thesis by student Ahmed Mohammed ZakiEsmaeel, under the supervisionof Dr.SafwanNathemRashedThis study tookOne of the failure distributions, which is a (burr-XII) distribution was used, and estimated the shape parameter (β) of the probability density function as well as the reliability function R (t) for this distribution. The point estimate (rating by point )was used to calculate the value of the unknown parameter under study if there was another parameter known in the probability distributionThe assessment was carried out in different ways as well as the Burr-XII reliability function and was represented in the Maximum Likelihood method, and Bayes and E-Bayes for initial distribution cases when initial information about the parameter was not available (Non-Informative) and when information was available (Informative) under symmetric and asymmetric loss functions. The study touchedThe estimated distribution parameters reached are then compensated by the estimation methods mentioned in the reliability function obtained from the subsequent probability density function based on the estimation method used to find reliability function values, and the assessment process was applied using the simulation method with the application to real values. This study aims Compare the Modalities of the estimation methods of the form parameter with the reliability function of the distribution (Burr-XII) when information about the parameter (Non-Informative) and Informative is below the Squared Errorloss functionsand linear Exponential loss functions and based on the MSE criterion to compare the capabilities of the methods used as well as estimate the reliability function of the distribution. The discussion committee consists of:
