Holding a continuing education course “Transfer Learning MathWorks”

Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Duha Bashir Abdullah, and as part of the college’s academic activities, the college held a series of continuing education courses for the 2025-2026 academic year. This included a continuing education course titled “Transfer Learning MathWorks” on Sunday, September 28, 2025, delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jajan Younis and Asst. Dr. Hassan Muhammad Nouri.
This course aimed to explore the use of transfer learning techniques within MathWorks tools to improve model performance and reduce training time for image classification tasks.
Abstract: Transfer learning enables the use of pre-trained models to solve new problems using less data and computation. This course highlights how MathWorks platforms, such as MATLAB and Deep Learning Toolbox, support transfer learning in image recognition and related applications. By reusing features from networks like ResNet and VGG, users can efficiently fine-tune models, achieve higher accuracy, and save significant development effort. This approach demonstrates the value of transfer learning in making advanced deep learning methods more accessible and effective for researchers and engineers.
