The College of Computer Science and Mathematics Holds a Scientific Workshop on Quality Concepts in Higher Education

Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Professor Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz, the College of Computer Science and Mathematics/Department of Operations Research and Intelligent Technologies held a scientific workshop entitled “Quality Concepts and Standards in Higher Education” on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. The workshop was presented by Dr. Uday Abdul Rahman Al-Obaidi.
The workshop addressed the concept of quality and its systems in higher education, its importance in developing institutional performance, and reviewed the mechanisms of academic evaluation and accreditation and their role in improving programs, curricula, and the university environment. It also aimed to empower educational institutions to adopt continuous improvement practices to achieve high-quality educational and research outcomes.
The workshop concluded with a discussion of the concept of quality and its systems in higher education, its importance in developing institutional performance, and its role in improving programs, curricula, and the university environment. The workshop also reviewed the concept of quality as a key driver for university development, outlining its main components, namely self-assessment, quality assurance, and academic accreditation, as well as highlighting the basic elements of quality such as curricula, teaching staff, scientific research, and the university environment, and the mechanisms for ensuring them through specialized systems and committees.
