Master thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Study the effect of blending bio-ethanol on characteristics of motor vehicle gasoline to produce gasohol as alternative fuel ”
The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master thesis Viva entitled ” Study the effect of blending bio-ethanol on characteristics of motor vehicle gasoline to produce gasohol as alternative fuel “,
On Monday, 14 August, 2023, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva.
This study, presented by the master student Sabreen Mohammed Saleh Al-jubori in the Department of Chemistry, aims to produce the potential bioethanol from different organic material wastes such as fruit، vegetable، and date wastes as possible raw materials via biochemical fermentation. Bioethanol can be produced from biomass waste and pollution can be reduced via the fermentation process. Therefore، bioethanol production must be raised using cheaper and eco-friendly raw materials. In our study، different biomass wastes were employed as raw materials for the production of bioethanol by using S. cerevisiae، and the results obtained were compared. It is worth mentioning that the waste feedstocks were subjected to thermal and mechanical pretreatment processes before the fermentation process. Conversion of biomass waste to bioethanol through fermentation was performed using cost-effective dry yeast such as S. cerevisiae. Its cell was identified via ITS sequencing method.
The present work exhibits a promising approach for bioethanol production on a large scale from inexpensive organic wastes and yeast. It would be suggested that agricultural products wastes that contain high fermentable sugar should not be discarded into the environment، but should be converted to useful fuel like bioethanol that can serve as an alternative friendly environment fuel.
