The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master thesis Viva entitled ” Synthesis and characterization of new complexes of Ag+, Mn2+ and Zn2+ with azomethin ligands and evaluation of their biological activity “,

On Monday, August 28, 2023, the College staff including the respected president of Mosul university Prof. Dr. Kusay Kamal Al-deen Al-Ahmady and the respected Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viva.

This study, presented by the master student Hussein Ahmad Ismail Al-Kikani

in the Department of Chemistry, includes the preparation and characterization of twenty new complexes for two elements from the first transition chain and an element from the second transition chain (manganese Mn++, zinc Zn++, and silver Ag+) with Schiff base ligands derived from benzoin with 4-aminopyridine, melamine, 5-aminosalicylic acid, and 4- Amino salicylic acid in two ways, the first in a neutral or slightly acidic medium, and the second in a basic medium, as mononuclear complexes were obtained.

The study showed that each of the ligands and complexes under study had a good inhibitory ability against these types of bacteria, more than what was observed against the types of fungi………………………….
