Master’s Thesis at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Chemistry…

In fulfillment of the fourth goal (Quality Education) of the Sustainable Development Goals, a master’s thesis entitled “Preparation and Characterization of Heterocyclic Compounds with Integrated Rings Using Some Metal Nanocatalysts and a Study of Their Biological Activity” was defended at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Mosul on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
Part of the thesis defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Jassim Fatehi Ali, the Head of the Chemistry Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Thanoon Ali, and a number of department faculty members.
The study, presented by the student Waleed Khaled Ghanem Khattab from the Chemistry Department, addressed the preparation of several heterocyclic compounds with a four-membered ring, such as azetidine-2-one substitutes; several pentagonal cyclic compounds, such as thiazolidine substitutes, thiadiazoles, tetrazoles, pyrazolones, oxadiazoles, and triazoles; and several hexagonal cyclic compounds represented by oxazine substitutes. Several heptacyclic compounds represented by oxazepine substitutes were also prepared.
The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Nameer Saadallah Ezza, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Ghufran Thanoon Siddeeq and Lecturer Dr. Omar Abdullah Saleh as members, and Professor Dr. Muhannad Yaqzan Saleh as both member and supervisor.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and supervisor on this scientific achievement.
