The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Mosul Discusses a master’s Thesis on the Geomorphology of Wadi Al-Kumel Basin

The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis on “The Geomorphology of Wadi Al-Kumel Basin” on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The discussion was attended by Prof. Dr. Hazim Dhanoon Ismail, Dean of the College, along with several faculty members.

The thesis, presented by the student Nawzad Yousif Abdulrahman Sli from the Department of Geography, examined the geomorphology of Wadi Al-Kumel Basin.

The study addressed the analysis of the natural characteristics of the region, the progression of geomorphological processes, its applications, and the analysis of morphometric characteristics of the study area.

The research aimed to identify the nature of landforms in the region, develop a geomorphological map of the basin following the Dutch ITC classification, and determine suitable locations for dam construction to support water harvesting, agricultural and human development, and livestock farming, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of natural resources in the area.
