The Department of English is looking forwards to having a high level of leadership in teaching and research locally, regionally, and internationally based on a practical scientific integrated approach and having excellent staff qualifications in the field of ELT to achieve knowledge and cultural communication with the nations around the world to serve society and keep up with current technology, based on the idea that English is the most widely spoken language in the world.

Mission:

The department strives to be a specialized academic tributary by preparing scientifically and professionally qualified staff in the field of English language teaching capable of competing in the local and global labor market by improving their linguistic, intellectual, and research talents and enhancing their sense of confidence.

Objectives:

providing the English Language Department with a distinguished educational program of the best quality, developing it in accordance with global trends, and trying to construct educational curricula so they are not perceived from the traditional perspective and concept but from the modern perspective. preparing graduates with a command of reading, writing, research, and teaching that enables them to compete on the job market. preparing graduates who are proficient in reading, writing, research, and teaching, making them capable of competing on the labor market. Equipping students with a thorough understanding of the English language, its literature, linguistics, and translation in order to foster a scientific and cultural environment that gives them chances for self-development. encouraging a critical understanding of the thoughts and cultures of the English-speaking world and creating a dialogue with them on a cultural level, which aids in understanding other cultures and broadening one’s perspective on how to interact with them through the study of various literary works. Interacting with the corresponding departments both inside and outside of Iraq in order to share experiences with them and gain knowledge from their expertise in all relevant domains. offering linguistic and translation expertise and consulting in the field of the English language to all governmental and non-governmental institutions, as well as implementing training programs for every sector of society, to contribute to and enrich community service. Work very hard to provide a positive atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork, a democratic environment, and high-quality human relations. Improving the overall performance level by continuously assessing inputs and outputs.
