College of Education for Humanities

In the early stages, the current English Language Department was a branch within the Languages Departments, which was established in the academic year 1974/1975 and also included a branch for the Arabic Language. The English Language branch became an independent department in the academic year 1978/1979, as the number of accepted students from preparatory school graduates increased. School certified teachers aim to teach the English language in Secondary schools. The first batch of graduates was in the academic year 1978/1979, following an annual study system.

The department introduced evening studies in the academic year 2004/2005 and established a master’s program in Linguistics and English Language Teaching in the academic year 2010/2011.

The department aims to prepare university graduates who hold a bachelor’s degree to teach the English language using modern scientific methods. Graduates of the department are awarded a bachelor’s degree in English Language. The department annually contributes to graduating a large number of students to work as teachers in schools of the Directorates of Education.
